JAIPUR/Ajmer: The pass percentage of Ajmer region — 98.03% in class X
CBSE results —is the lowest since the grading system was introduced in 2011. It has put Ajmer region on 5th position among the 10th CBSE regions in the country. Thiruvananthapuram region is leading with a pass percentage of 99.77% followed by Chennai with 99.03%.
Ajmer region comprising Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Dadar and Nagar Haveli has shown a decline of 1.1% from last year’s pass percentage of 99.40%.
This year, a total of 1, 51,702 students appeared in the exam which includes 91, 025 boys and 57, 692 girls. Girls maintained the trend and fared better in the overall pass percentage with 98.75% against the pass percentage of 97.58% for boys.
Last year, the pass percentage of girls touched 99.59% and boys were slightly behind with 99.28%. The poor result is evident from the fact that 2,985 students failed in the exam against the 787 student last year. Most of the students who flunked were private students. Thiruvananthapuram region registered lowest number of students getting compartment with 0.23 percent of students against 1.93% of students overall who got compartment.
In Ajmer region, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas lead the result with 99.89% pass percentage and Kendriya Vidyalayas stood second with 99.24% pass percentage. 1, 25,582 students from private schools took the exam. The number of regular students was 7,402 students from JNV, 14, 712 from KVS and 7,040 from government schools. A total of 8,799 students have scored 10 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in any single grading category.
Figures indicated that even though X boards were optional, a majority of students have opted to take the board exam. Here, 76, 006 students appeared in the board-based examination in which 73, 671 candidates passed. A total of 75, 707 students appeared in the school-based exam in which 75, 046 students passed. The pass percentage of board-based exam students was 96.93% which less that the school-based exam percentage that was 99.13%.
